Parabolic trough collectors
Solar thermal stations produce electrical energy from the solar energy. In total, there are rows of mirror panels that reflect the sunlight onto a long steel absorber tube. The heat is collected in the absorber tubes and transported with a working fluid to the heat-exchanger of the power block unit.

The main components of a typical solar thermal power plant are:

  • Solar field with parabolic trough collectors
  • Heat-exchangers and thermal fluid auxiliary equipment
  • Power block including turbine, generator, condenser and pumps
  • Storage system

One of the benefits achieved by using Solar Thermal Stations is that the energy produced is in the form of heat and thus can be stored easily (storage system).
